Waukesha Photographer Receives National Award for Accident Photo

Timothy Snopek's picture of Waukesha firefighters caring for an injured patient brings him top recognition.

Editor's note: The following information was submitted to Waukesha Patch via a news release from the Waukesha Fire Department.

Timothy Snopek, a Waukesha photographer, who specializes in photos of emergency scenes around our area, has won a national award from the International Association of Fire Fighters.  The photo is at the scene of a vehicle accident, where the City of Waukesha firefighters are caring for an injured patient. The International Association of Firefighter’s received 305 entries in the 2012 Media Awards Contest – all of which reflect the expanding role fire fighters play in communities across North America.

The IAFF awarded Snopek with the 1st Place award for the “Best Fire Service Photo Originally Published on a News-based Web Site.”  The photo is title, “All Hands Working.”

Snopek, a Waukesha native, has 31 years of experience taking pictures in Waukesha County.  Through the years, he has had his photos published in newspapers, magazines, calendars, and even a major motion picture.  Along with publishing his pictures, he maintains a web site where he shares his pictures of emergency scenes from around the county.  You can find Snopek’s site at timsnopek.com.   

City of Waukesha Firefighter’s invited Timothy Snopek to the City of Waukesha Fire Station 1, on Saturday to receive his award.  Tim spent the morning with the firefighters of station 1; having breakfast and reminiscing over the all the calls they have seen through the years.  On behalf of the Waukesha Professional Fire Fighters and the IAFF, Snopek received his award from Roger Evert
