Waukesha Man Indicted in Truck Thefts

Six men face federal charges accusing them of stealing truckloads of Nike shoes, Pepsi, Chex Mix and other products.

A 35-year-old Waukesha man is facing federal charges alleging he and five other men were involved with the theft of truckloads of Nike shoes, Pepsi, Chex Mix, fruit snacks, antifreeze, ice melter, chocolate and other items transported to Michigan, Illinois and Indiana for a total value of $1.3 million, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Jeffrey Meyers was indicted one count of conspiracy to transport stolen vehicles and other stolen property in interstate commerce and two counts of theft. He faces up to 25 years in prison and maximum fines of $750,000 if convicted.

This case was investigated by detectives of the Milwaukee Police Department with some assistance by other agencies. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Daniel H. Sanders and Mel S. Johnson.

The public is cautioned that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which time the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Other men charged are:

  • Jose Rosales, 51, West Allis, one count of conspiracy and 14 counts of theft
  • Mario Rosales, 53, Hialeah, FL, one count of conspiracy and 12 counts of theft
  • Leonilo Tirse, 48, Hialeah, FL, one count of conspiracy and 12 counts of theft
  • Oliver Catillo, 33, Milwaukee, one count of conspiracy and 14 counts of theft
  • Felix Cotto-Alomar, 37, Milwaukee, one count of conspiracy and 12 counts of theft
