Waukesha Man Charged with Stealing Railroad Truck

Suspect told investigators he took the truck to feed his heroin habit.

A Waukesha man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a Wisconsin Central Canadian Railroad work truck in order to feed his heroin addiction.

Kail R. Weber, 22, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of theft of property valued at more than $10,000 and one count of joyriding. If convicted, he faces up to nearly 11 years in prison and $35,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on March 15, a railroad worker had parked the truck and left the keys in the vehicle in a parking lot in front of a building in the 200 block of East Broadway. He was gone for about five minutes, but after returning, it was gone.

The truck had contained a laptop computers and a tool box full of tools valued at $20,000.

The truck was found five days later near Capitol Drive in Riverwest area of Milwaukee.

Weber told investigators he took the truck and picked up a friend before he eventually abandoned it. He told them he sold the laptop and some of the tools in order to feed his heroin addiction.
