Waukesha Man Charged With Burglarizing West Allis Apartment

Suspect told police he took money in order to buy food for him and his family, according to the criminal complaint.

A 32-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges after he allegedly stole $275 from a West Allis apartment when the owner of the money was gone.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Oct. 13, Michael P. Ciardo went into a residence at Manor Apartments in West Allis and took money from the resident while she was gone. Ciardo, who works on the grounds crew at the apartment, told a cleaning woman he was helping the resident out when she spotted him entering the apartment.

Ciardo told police he took the money to buy food because money has been tight for him and his family.

He’s charged with one count of burglary, which carries a maximum sentence of 12-½ years in prison and $25,000 in fines if convicted. He will make his initial appearance in court Nov. 15.
