According to the criminal complaint:

At 6:28 p.m. Wednesday, several Milwaukee police officers on bicycle patrol went by a gas station in the 3100 block of West Fond Du Lac Avenue where they spotted a man sitting in the driver’s seat of a car holding a bag of marijuana. Ripley was standing outside of the car and going through a duffel bag when an officer noticed him conceal a plastic baggie under his wallet, which was sitting on the seat.

The officers searched the baggie and discovered it had two bindles of heroin inside.
