Waukesha Man Accused of Stealing Credit Card From a Wauwatosa School

Suspect has been involved in similar thefts in Brookfield and Menomonee Falls, according to criminal complaint.

A 39-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges after he is accused of stealing a credit card from a purse at a Wauwatosa school then used it to buy items from Target, according to a criminal complaint.

Caesar Hanson was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Tuesday with two counts of identity theft for financial gain. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

A woman at Christ King School in Wauwatosa contacted police Jan. 10 after she noticed someone had taken her wallet and credit cards from her purse and had used cards at a Waukesha Target and gas station.

Surveillance videos showed Hanson purchasing a prepaid cell phone and $800 in gift cards at the Target store, then going to another register and attempting to buy another $400 in gift cards, but the transaction was denied.

After discussing the case with other local law enforcement to identify Hanson, Brookfield police informed investigators they had a similar case where Hanson took a credit card from a Brookfield business and businesses in Menomonee Falls.

A warrant has been issued for Hanson’s arrest.
