A 41-year-old Waukesha man is accused of driving drunk and nearly onto the expressway the wrong way in Racine County.
Clever A. Escobar was charged in Racine County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of fourth offense operating while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and $4,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Sunday, a Racine County sheriff’s deputy was travelling northbound on Interstate-94 near the 7 Mile Road off ramp, when he spotted a car driven by Escobar traveling up the ramp. Escobar completed a U-turn and drove the correct way onto westbound I-94, but was pulled over by the deputy.
Escobar appeared intoxicated and his teenage daughter was in the passenger seat with a 12-pack of beer between her feet. He was placed under arrest and taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for a blood test, which he tried to resist.
Escobar was previously convicted of OWI in 1996, 2000 and 2006. He’s currently being held in Racine County Jail on $5,000 bond while awaiting trial.
