Waukesha Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Apartment Building Fire

Dixie Drive building was being remodeled and suffered $5,000 in damage after fire.

A fire that started in a four-family apartment building Monday afternoon created about $5,000 in damage, Battalion Chief Joe Hoffman said.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. Monday at 1947 Dixie Drive.

Four Waukesha stations responded to help put out the fire. Hoffman credit a quick response – crews were on scene in four minutes from the original call – and the quick actions from Waukesha Fire Station No. 3 for the fire not creating more damage. Smoke was already visible when the firefighters were on scene.

“They were able to minimize the damage,” Hoffman said.

The apartment building was being remodeled and a plumber was working in the building at the time. The plumber accidentally set the wall on fire, according to Hoffman. Two other contractors and the apartment building’s owner were also on scene.
