Waukesha Fire Department Team Takes Third in Fight for Air Climb

Second team takes 10th place as more than $1,500 is raised for American Lung Association.

The two teams of off-duty Waukesha firefighters competing Saturday morning in the 2011 Fight for Air Climb reached the top of the US Bank building in downtown Milwaukee and raised more than $1,500 to benefit the American Lung Association.

The Waukesha Fire Department Team 1 took third place in the climb. Firefighters from Fitchburg took first place and West Allis took second. The second team from Waukesha took 10th place.

The 10 Waukesha firefighters that competed had to run up 47 flights of stairs, which is 1,043 steps, dressed in their full turnout gear.

The five firefighters that competed on the Waukesha Fire Department Team 1 were Pat Rettler, Chris Franson, Dennis Graff, Matthew Gundersen and Michael Whitehouse.

The second team from the Waukesha Fire Department included Daniel Nottling, William Dumovich, Tom Koerner, David Mack and Brandon Peterleus.
