UPDATED: Police Locate Missing Domestic Violence Victim

Updated, 2:10 p.m. Wednesday: Fay Shaw, of Waukesha, has been safely located, Sgt. Jerry Habanek confirmed.

Shaw was found at a relative's home in Pewaukee around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"She was not injured and was in good condition," Habanek said in a news release. "She apparently left her residence last night before officers responded because she felt threatened."

Original: The Waukesha Police Department is looking for a victim of a domestic violence situation after she did not show up for work this morning.

If you know where Fay Shaw, 51, of Waukesha, is located, police are asking you to contact Detective Eileen Micklitz at the Waukesha Police Department at 262-522-1011. Shaw’s vehicle was not located at home. She did call in sick to work, according to Sgt. Jerry Habanek.

"We have contacted the known family members in the area, so if there is anyone else out there who knows Fay Shaw, we would appreciate a call," Habanek said.

Police were called to 3001 E. View Court near South Comanche Lane at 6:18 a.m. for a third-party report of a domestic violence incident. Officers had prior knowledge that the owner of the residence, Shaw's husband, owns firearms and previously threatened to shoot the police, according to the Waukesha Police Department.

"We have had histories at this house," Habanek said. "We have not had domestic violence-related calls at this house yet."

Once at the residence, officers were unable to contact the suspect or the victim.  Officers continuously telephoned the house, and no one inside responded, according to police.

"Because of the nature of the call, the history of domestic violence-related calls in recent history that we have had in our area and the knowledge that he has assault weapons and his previous threats to shoot officers, we did not feel comfortable making physical contact with him," Habanek said.

The Waukesha Police Department Tactical Unit was requested to the scene. They responded along with the Waukesha County Regional Bearcat Armored Rescue Vehicle.  At 10:29 am the suspect turned himself in to police after a negotiation team attempted contact, officers were yelling to him through the front window and were making announcements over the PA system.

The man is currently under protective custody to evaluate his mental status and is not cooperating with police, according to Habanek.

Meanwhile, nearby Bethesda Elementary School was on lockdown during the tactical situation, but that lockdown has been cleared.
