Police Seeking Vehicle Involved in Hit-and-Run

SUV fled scene after striking woman and service dog.

Updated Monday, 2:17 p.m. 

Police are asking for help locating a vehicle that struck a pedestrian and killed her service dog last Friday night at 9:43 p.m. 

The vehicle is described as a cream or light colored 1993-1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The vehicle will have damage to the passenger side front quarter panel, according to police.

The vehicle registration plates have the numbers “22” in the plate. The vehicle was last seen driving east bound on E. Main Street from Barstow Street following the accident.

Saturday:

A woman and her service dog were victims of a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Barstow and Broadway streets at 9:43 p.m. Friday, according to police.

The service dog died from its injuries. The woman was treated for minor injuries, Sgt. Gregg Satula said.

The woman and her dog were attempting to cross the intersection when they were struck by an SUV. The vehicle fled the scene.

Although Freeman Friday Night Live was going on in the area, the incident does not at this time appear to be related to the event, according to police.

Police are releasing limited information about the incident due the ongoing investigation.

There were witnesses to the hit-and-run, but others who may have information are asked to call the Waukesha Police Department non-emergency number, 262-524-3831.
