UPDATE: Missing Waukesha Girls Found

One girl has serious health condition and does not have medicine

Update: 10:07 p.m. Wednesday: It was less than two hours after the media was notified that the Waukesha Police Department was searching for two missing girls when the juveniles were found on the east side of Waukesha.

An observant woman who had just heard a report about the girls’ description noticed the two girls outside of PetWorld and saw that one of the girls was not wearing any shoes. The woman went inside the store and looked at pictures of the missing girls online with PetWorld employees. The store called police and went outside to talk to the girls, who eventually took off, according to Sgt. Jerry Habanek.

“It is awesome how people listened to the media at a large,” Habanek said.

A police officer was conducting a traffic stop near the shopping center and left that call to find the girls. They were located near Target, according to Habanek.

Habanek praised the area media outlets for their quick response to provide the public with a description of the girls, who were safely found and are being considered runaways. Habanek said he was amazed by how quickly it was reported by radio, Internet and other media outlets

“It was a quick turn around,” he said.

Update: 4:33 p.m. Wednesday: The Waukesha Police Department has canceled its missing children alert after the two girls were found in Waukesha, according to Sgt. Jerry Habanek.

Earlier: The is requesting assistance in locating two missing female juveniles. One of the missing girls has a serious medical condition and does not have enough medication with her.

They both live on the north side of Waukesha near Hawthorne Elementary School and have been missing since last night.  If you have any information regarding them or see them, please call the Waukesha Police Department at 262-524-3831.

You are correct. Had it confused with Petco. Thanks!

Why did it take so long for the police to notify the public that these girls were missing? In the article it states they were last seen Tuesday night and the press was notified Wednesday afternoon. Is that when the police were notified too? I would think in the case of missing children this would be a faster response. Any thoughts? Maybe I am missing something.

I agree that the folks at this Kwik Trip are great at assisting disabled people like myself but IRead More disagree that all Kwik Trips are helpful. There is a law that all gas stations are to assist you if you have disabled plates or a hanging placard if you press the help or disabled key on the pump. If there is no key (and I think all must have them by a certain date) then you are to honk horn twice and if there are at least 2 employees on duty, they are to assist. The K/T on St. Paul is useless. I've waited there, watching at least 3 employees mill around the counter with 1 or 2 customers and ingnore me. The Grandview station same but I haven't tried them in a few months. The worst station for that is whatever the one on St. Paul and Prarie is. I pulled in to see a female worker standing on side of building smoking. When she went in she was greeted by a male worker and I was ignored by both. I'd like to do a survey on how helpful each gas station is to the disabled. Kudos to Fleetfoot Kwik Trip! Whatever they got they should share with their brethren. I would rather give my $ to K/T because they are WI based and they donate regularly to the Salvation Army

I am fine with this service--its great. However being handicapped does not mean employees need toRead More give up their breaks or other customers need to let you cut in line in front of their service needs.
