Police Report: Stolen Road Signs; Keys in River

Waukesha Police Department calls from June 18 and June 19.

An officer’s watchful eye caught sight of  a vehicle that had road signs in the back at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, and when the officer went to pull the vehicle over, the driver attempted to flee the scene, according to the Waukesha Police Department’s call log.

Instead of getting away in the area of East and College avenues, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of intoxicated driving.

  • A woman requested police assistance to help her retrieve her keys that had fallen into the Fox River at 9:16 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East St. Paul Avenue. The Waukesha Fire Department successfully recovered the keys.
  • A man was arrested after a domestic disturbance was reported at 10:14 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Hinman Avenue.
  • A teen reportedly was skateboarding in traffic on the bypass at 12:55 a.m. Saturday at Highway 164 and Pearl Street. The teen was gone before police arrived.
  • Minor injuries were sustained during a car vs. motorcycle accident at 1:50 p.m. Saturday.
  • Two women were arrested for retail theft at 2:24 p.m. Saturday at Walmart.
  • A homeless man was claiming that he was hit by a vehicle while biking at 3:38 p.m. Saturday. Police investigated and determined the intoxicated man had fallen from the bike while crossing the road at Madison and West North streets. The man, who had a .32 percent blood alcohol concentration, asked that his bicycle be secured at the Waukesha Salvation Army.
  • A person was arrested after it was reported a vehicle was playing loud music and had the hood and trunk open at 3:51 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Dodie Drive.
  • A man locked himself into handcuffs and the key was discovered to be broken at 4:07 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Summit Avenue. The Waukesha Fire Department requested an officer to bring a key in an attempt to free the man from the cuffs before cutting off the handcuffs.
  • A person was arrested after a reckless vehicle was reported at 5:22 p.m. Saturday. The driver reportedly fell asleep at the stoplights at Silvernail Road and North Grandview Boulevard. The vehicle later came to a stop near an apartment building and the driver was laying on the ground.
  • The theft of a landscaping light and a security alarm sign was reported at 6:34 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Norton Avenue.
  • A person reported to police at 8:15 p.m. Saturday that a train may have derailed near College and Grand avenues. The train did not derail but was having problems with its air brakes to cause a noise, of which the railroad was aware.
  • Two people were arrested – one for felony operating while intoxicated – during a traffic stop at 9:26 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of West College Avenue.
  • A purse was stolen at 1:42 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Springdale Road.
  • A person was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving during a traffic stop at 1:55 a.m. Sunday at North West Avenue and Elizabeth Street.
  • A loud party shut down at 2:12 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Beechwood Avenue after a noise complaint was received.
