Police Report: Music with Gunshots, a Broken Squad Car Window, Wrong Identity

Waukesha Police Department calls from Feb. 17 to Feb 19.

It was an unfortunate case of mistaken identity.

Police responded at 7:57 p.m. Friday to investigate allegations that a sex offender was violating the conditions of the sex offender registry.

A man who had the same name – except different middle names – had been mistaken as the sex offender by neighbors in the 2000 block of Woodburn Road. The caller was advised about the mistaken identity.

At 12:57 a.m. Friday, the police were called to the report of a fight in the 300 block of Wisconsin Avenue. A caller reported hearing four gunshots and yelling and screaming.

When police arrived, they made searches of the suspect vehicle but did not find any evidence of a shooting, weapons or a fight. Then a manager of an area establishment told police it could have been the music, because there are gunshots in the music.

  • An arrest was made after a fight was reported at 1:40 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of West Broadway.
  • An arrest was made after an accident was reported at 2:36 p.m. Thursday in the100 block of Wright Street.
  • A high school student was cited after swearing at another student and hitting the student. The incident was reported at 3:13 p.m. Thursday at Waukesha South High School, 401 E. Roberta Ave.
  • A high school student was cited for her conduct at Waukesha South High School, 401 E. Roberta Ave. The teen was reported to be causing problems in class and swearing at the teacher. The incident was reported at 6:05 p.m. Thursday.
  • A cell phone was stolen from a gym locker at Waukesha North High School, 2222 Michigan Ave., at 7:34 p.m. Thursday.
  • A man was arrested for violating a restraining order at 8:43 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Wisconsin Avenue.
  • A person was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving during a traffic stop at 12:12 a.m. Friday at West St. Paul and Mountain avenues.
  • A person was arrested for a fight after police dispatch caught the altercation on the downtown OptiCop camera system at 12:43 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Friedman Drive.
  • A student reported being hit by a vehicle at 7:35 a.m. Friday at East Newhall and Tenny avenues. The student reported receiving a hand injury.
  • A juvenile was arrested at the Lauer Center, 1515 Paramount Drive at 12:22 p.m. Thursday.
  • A woman reported at 4:51 p.m. Friday that she came home to find a neighbor boy in the house with her children. The woman decided to not have an officer respond and the only item that was missing was fruit snacks from the residence in the 1700 block of Oakdale Drive.
  • A woman reported a man, who she married in Jamaica but did not legalize the nuptials in the United States, took her belongings while she was in jail following a fight during the weekend. The woman reported the incident at 6:11 p.m. Friday and police advised her it was civil issue.
  • A person was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving during at traffic stop at 8:47 p.m. Friday.
  • A man was arrested for disorderly conduct at 10:45 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Rivera Drive.
  • A man admitted to exiting his house with a baseball bat after becoming upset with a van turning into his driveway to shuttle students to a possible underage alcohol party at 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of West Dunbar Avenue.
  • A person was arrested after a disorderly conduct incident was reported at 12:14 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Debbie Drive.
  • A prisoner kicked out a squad window at 3:39 a.m. Saturday at the Waukesha Police Department, 1901 Delafield St. Numerous officers responded and the prisoner was turned over to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
