Police Report: Intoxication, Theft, Prowlers and Pot

Sunday and Monday, September 4 and 5

The following items are brief summaries from the call log for Sunday and Monday, September 4 and 5. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Intoxicated driving

A traffic stop at the intersection of Anoka and Harding avenues Monday at 3:27 a.m. resulted in an arrest for intoxicated driving.

A woman was arrested for intoxicated driving following calls to police from the woman’s family in 2500 block of West Sunset Drive Sunday, 11:58 a.m. The woman was reported to be intoxicated and attempting to drive with children in the car.

Theft

A boy’s unlocked bike was reported stolen from a lot in the 1200 block of West Sunset Drive about 7 p.m. Sunday night.

A backpack containing personal identification was reported stolen from a yard in the 1400 block of Garfield Avenue Sunday at 7:42 p.m.

A person called police saying that his bike had just been stolen and the suspect was fleeing south down West Avenue in the 1400 block at 3:32 p.m. Sunday. Police caught up with a boy who admitted to taking the bike. The boy was taken home and turned over to his mother.  No complaint was filed regarding the bike.

A driver left without paying for $30.09 gas in the 900 block of West St. Paul Avenue Sunday at about 2:10 p.m.

An arrest was made after a theft suspect ran from the store following an encounter with loss prevention at Target, 2401 Kossow Rd., at 2:36 p.m. Sunday.

Retail theft was reported Sunday 2:29 p.m. at Walmart, 2000 S. West Ave.

A caller reported that she left her credit card at Kwik Trip, 2530 N. Grandview Blvd., Thursday evening. It was used minutes later at several at different locations, according to the caller.

Prowler: A homeowner called police about a possible prowler in the 200 block of Douglass Avenue Sunday 10:36 p.m. The caller heard a door creaking open but all the doors were locked. A motion light was on outside. Police found nothing amiss.

Pot problems: A son called police on Sunday afternoon and said his mom was hitting him because she thinks he smokes marijuana. His parents told police they found a foil pipe with residue in his room, resulting in an altercation over the pipe. The son was advised of his behavior and possible ramifications and they were all advised of their options.

Disorderly conduct: An intoxicated man was advised by police for his behavior in the 300 block West Main Street after the man was said to be yelling at people Sunday at 6:37 a.m.

Weapon: A traffic stop in the 201 block of West Moreland Boulevard Monday 1:11 a.m. resulting in an arrest for possession of two brass knuckles.

Vandalism: A mailbox was vandalized in 2500 block of Madison Street. The incident was reported 9:40 p.m. Sunday evening.

Noise Complaints

A resident in the 100 block of Cambridge Avenue was warned about excessive noise following a call to police about a loud party Monday at 4:27 a.m.

A resident in the 1400 block of East Roberta Avenue was warned Monday 3:13 a.m. after a p arty with neighbors. Owner was advised to turn the music down and take the party indoors.

Two college kids were reported to be shooting fireworks off the roof of a home in the 1000 block of Macarthur Court 2:52 a.m. on Monday morning.
