Police Report: Dog Bite, Heroin Withdrawals, Woman Thinks Someone Tried to Steal Dog

Waukesha Police Department calls from Feb. 21 and Feb. 22

The following calls were made to the t:

  • The theft of items from a locker at was reported at 9:23 a.m. Monday.
  • Staff at reported a man who was being treated for heroin withdrawals walked out of the emergency room at 11:47 a.m. Monday. The homeless man was becoming irate and agitated before walking out of the hospital. Police were dispatched but the man was gone before police arrived.
  • A man reported he thought a vacant home was targeted in an attempted burglary at 12:57 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Caroline Street. No report was filed as attempts to get in contact with the property owner were unsuccessful.
  • A man was arrested for a domestic disturbance at 2:23 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Grand Avenue.
  • A man was arrested for failure to appear in a Washington County court hearing at 4:22 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Sheffield Road.
  • A woman reported she believed someone tried to steal her dog at 4:50 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Jefferson Avenue. The dog was still at the residence and any potential suspects were gone before police arrived.
  • A person reported hearing a single gunshot at 6:48 p.m. Monday in the 2600 block of North University Drive. Police checked the area but could not locate any problems. A plow had just been through the area, likely putting down its plow and creating a loud noise.
  • A person reported a domestic disturbance with banging in an upstairs apartment at 7:07 p.m. Monday but when police arrived there were no problems. The apartment residents were putting away groceries, which may have been what the neighbor heard.
  • Police filed an animal-bite form after a woman reported her child had received one stitch to heal the wound at 8:06 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Macarthur Road. The woman called police about a possible domestic disturbance between the child’s father and the child’s grandfather, but that was unfounded. Police investigated and noted the children were well cared for and that the child had put her face by the dog’s face. The child had been put in time out in the past for aggravating to the dog.
  • Police were called to at 9:47 p.m. Monday after an editor reported a man was walking around the building looking dazed and confused. Police made contact with the man, who worked in the building and was there with a manager. There were no problems and police cleared the scene.
  • The theft of prescription medication was reported at 9:57 p.m. Monday in the 2800 block of North Grandview Boulevard.
  • A person was arrested after a loud noise complaint was filed at 10:14 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of East Main Street. Police found a 6-inch pipe while at the residence.
  • A woman lost ¾ of her finger when the door was slammed on it at 11:05 p.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Broken Hill Road. Police investigated and found no evidence of a crime.
  • A man was arrested after it was reported he was refusing to leave a residence at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of North Hine Avenue.
  • A person reported finding footprints in the snow near the shed at 5:14 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of West Newhall Avenue. Police looked at the footprints and noted the footprints were not fresh. There was no evidence that anyone tried to break into the shed and police cleared the scene.
  • A road rage incident that stemmed from child custody issues was reported at 5:46 a.m. Tuesday at East Main Street and Highway 164. No arrests were made.
