Police Report: Burglary, Man with a Gun

The following is a brief summary of calls to the from Wednesday morning until Friday morning.

Burglary

A burglar was reported in the 500 block of North West Avenue Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. after a resident heard someone come in through his back door and found an unknown woman in the kitchen. The woman ran out the back door and into alley behind the residence. An unknown man was with her in the alley. Nothing was taken and there were no signs of forced entry.

Arrests

One man was arrested following a confrontation in the 1800 block of South Grand Avenue Thursday 4:49 p.m. Witnesses reported that the man displayed a gun, chambered it, “talked smack” and left when told police were being called. No one was injured.

Two people were arrested following a fight near the Five Points area of downtown Friday at 1:49 a.m. The fight was said to have originated in a bar.

A man was arrested following a domestic disturbance about 10 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of Irving. An argument between the man and his girlfriend, who were visiting the area, led to the man riding away on his motorcycle, despite friends trying to stop him due to his level of intoxication.

One man was arrested on warrants following a report of disorderly conduct Thursday at 6:35 p.m. in . Some adults and six to seven kids were said to have been chasing after each other, yelling and screaming.

Two people were arrested following a traffic stop Friday at 3:20 a.m. in the 300 Joellen Drive.

Juvenile trouble

Parents of a boy in the 1800 block of East Main Street were advised that it was illegal to discharge air soft guns in the city after parents of another boy called police Wednesday about 5:30 p.m., reporting that the boy had shot their son with his air soft gun. The boy did not require medical treatment. The boy with the air soft gun told police he had accidently shot his friend while playing.

Police were called Thursday at 6:09 p.m. to the parking ramp in the 200 block of South Street after five or six kids, ages estimated at 12- to 15-years-old, were said to have been spitting and throwing items off the top level of the ramp, almost striking the caller’s car.

Vandalism

Tires on two different cars were reported slashed in 1800 Erin Lane Friday at 5:23 a.m. Police found additional tires slashed in the 300 block of Joellen Drive.

A garage in the 1900 block of Swartz Drive was reported vandalized with condiments (ketchup or barbeque sauce) Wednesday at 9:11 p.m. The caller said there may be permanent damage.

Police were called to the 300 block of West North Street Wednesday about 5 p.m. after a group of boys were reported to have been spraying graffiti. The police created an incident report.

Car crimes and oddities

A car window was smashed and a backpack stolen while the car was parked in the 1000 block of Delafield Street. The incident was reported Wednesday at 8:54 a.m.

A handicap placard and $2 were reported to have been taken sometime Thursday night from a car in the 2000 block of Oakdale Drive.

An electric razor was left in a car that rifled through in the 2100 block of Kensington Drive. The razor didn’t belong to the car owner. Nothing was reported stolen from the car. The incident was reported Thursday at 5:13 p.m.

Accident: An accident was reported in the 1000 block of Caroline Street accident Thursday at 6:59 p.m. The driver told police that the hood of a car opened while the car was in motion, blocking her view and causing her to hit a parked car.

Grill gone: A resident in the 100 block of Cecilia Court reported that her grill was stolen Thursday 7:27 p.m.
