Police Report: Bikes Stolen; Burning Candles

Waukesha Police Department calls from Aug. 15 and Aug. 16.

Police made contact with a business owner after it was discovered that candles were burning in a business at 10:56 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of North Grand Avenue. The owner was sleeping in the business and told officers he was burning the candles to get rid of an unpleasant odor.

  • A park shelter was burglarized at 8:24 a.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Michigan Avenue.
  • A person was taken into custody for a mental commitment after it was reported the person had a knife at 10:36 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of Summit Avenue. The individual was found at
  • A Nazi sign was etched into a new sidewalk at 11:22 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Third Street.
  • A possible drug overdose was reported at 1:37 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Park Avenue.
  • The theft of a cell phone was reported at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of West Roberta Avenue.
  • Two people were arrested for retail theft at 2:31 p.m. Monday at Walmart.
  • A theft was reported at 2:49 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of White Rock Avenue.
  • A person was arrested for retail theft at 4:43 p.m. Monday at Pick β€˜N Save, 220 E. Sunset Drive.
  • A bike was stolen at 4:48 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of South Prairie Avenue.
  • A man was warned by police after a disorderly conduct incident was reported at 4:57 p.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Albany Court.
  • A 17-year-old reportedly stole a rent check from a leasing office at 6:50 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Big Bend Road. There was no complaint filed but there was a request for $20 to be paid back for the check’s cancellation. The 17-year-old’s guardian paid the $20 and the teen will pay it back through chores and volunteered community service throughout the apartment building.
  • A woman was arrested for retail theft at Walmart at 7:22 p.m. Monday while a male suspect fled on foot, got onto a Waukesha bus and then made a comment about going to jail to the bus driver before he was dropped off a few blocks later.
  • A person was arrested after it was reported he violated a no-contact restraining order at 7:23 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Madison Street.
  • The theft of a bike was reported at 8:57 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Waverly Place.
  • Two women were warned after it was reported they were being loud and swearing at 10:02 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of North Moreland Boulevard.
  • A domestic disturbance was reported at 10:41 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of East Sunset Drive.
  • A theft of a bike was reported at 10:53 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Wood Street.
  • A man who was attempting to evade officers was arrested at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday at West Broadway and Wisconsin Avenue.
  • A person was arrested during a traffic stop at 2:59 a.m. Tuesday at South East Avenue and East Sunset Drive.
