A Waukesha man is accused of having images of child pornography on his computer, admitting to wiping his hard drive a week before a search warrant was served, according to a criminal complaint.

Scott A. Chier, 52, was charged Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with three counts of possessing child pornography and one count of child sexploitation. He faces up to 70 years initial confinement in prison and $400,000 in fines if convicted.

A Waukesha police detective investigating child pornography reported that someone using Chier’s IP address had shared numerous child pornography files with the detective on June 9, the criminal complaint states.

The detective found four child pornography images on Chier’s computer after executing a search warrant on Thursday at his Mary Ann Court home, the complaint states.

Chier admitted to being addicted to pornography, adding that adult pornography was no longer stimulating, according to the complaint. While most of his child pornography he has watched involves older girls, he told police, he also in the past has kept images of toddler girls.

Chier told police he wiped his hard drive about a week before the search warrant was served, the complaint states.

A restraining order granted in Waukesha County Court alleges that Chier admitted to propositioning a 14-year-old girl for sex in 2003, has alcohol abuse issues and has access to firearms in the Mary Ann Court home.
