Police: Burglary Suspect Nabbed With $10,000

Money in ATM burglaries was used to fund suspect's heroin and cocaine addictions.

A suspect was arrested and $10,000 in cash has been recovered after law enforcement arrested the suspect after two ATM burglaries were reported in Waukesha, according to the Waukesha Police Department's Facebook page.

Officers caught a break early Friday morning when an officer stopped a white van for speeding and for failing to stop at a stop sign. The officer noted the vehicle matched the suspect's vehicle.

Several hours later, employees of Waukesha Recycling called to report a burglary, according to the Facebook post.

"The suspect drove a forklift through an interior office brick wall and pierced the ATM machine," the Facebook page states. "Numerous safes were pried open as well and approximately $10,000 in cash was taken during the burglary in total. The New Berlin Police Department was sent to the suspect’s place of employment to detain him. $10,000 in cash, gloves, and a large pry bar were recovered in the suspect’s vehicle.

"The suspect later confessed to detectives about his involvement in numerous burglaries over the past several months as a way to support the suspect’s heroin and crack cocaine addiction."
