UPDATE: Man, 46, Hit by Train in Waukesha

Man was trying to beat the train and received abrasion on his arm.

A man was hit by a train Wednesday afternoon but was not severely injured and did not seek medical attention, according to Waukesha Fire Lt. Brett Meints

“He is a very lucky person,” Meints said.

Waukesha Police Sgt. Jerry Habanek said the man was 46 years old. The man walked away from the North Grand Avenue and Cutler Street crossing with an abrasion to the forearm.

“He almost beat the train,” Habanek said. “It just caught him.”

The call came at 4:15 p.m. The man has signed a medical release. The train could be seen stopped in the central Waukesha area, causing some traffic jams at city intersections as people tried to get around the train.

“He tried to beat the train,” said Meints about the initial reports. “He tried to run across in front of the train.”

Wednesday's pedestrian vs. train accident is the second this year. A man who lived in a nearby group home by a train on Easter.
