Parents of Triple Homicide Suspect Warned Their Son Was Delusional

Jaren Kuester's parents had repeatedly asked Waukesha County mental health professionals to hospitalize their son prior to the killings.

Prior to the slayings of three retired farmers, Waukesha County mental health professionals were warned by the parents of the suspect that their son was delusional and dangerous, reported the Wisconsin State Journal.

Jim and Kathleen Kuester are saying they repeatedly asked officials to help their son, Jaren Kuester, and that the killings would have never happened if he would have been hospitalized.

Lafayette County sheriff's deputies found three people dead inside a home in Wiota, reported Patch's media partners WISN 12 News. The victims were Dean Thoreson, 76; Gary Thoreson, 70; and Chloe Thoreson, 66.

The head of the Waukesha County mental health system said Jaren Kuester's April 25 assessment did not meet the state's criteria to detain him against his wishes, reported the State Journal.

Jaren Kuester was diagnosed with depression at 16, according to the State Journal. Court records show a history of violence as a teen linked to a mental illness. 

Jim Kuester learned from police his son allegedly told them demons were around him when he attacked the three victims.

Jaren Kuester had been in jail just days early after exhibiting strange behavior at Humane Animal Welfare Society.
