No Injuries in High-Speed Freeway Chase That Ended in Brookfield

Authorities chased van on Interstate 94 in Jefferson and Waukesha counties.

No one was injured after a high-speed, two-county freeway chase ended Thursday morning at Barker Road in Brookfield.

The chase started in Jefferson County at 11:07 a.m. as deputies attempted to pull over a blue van for a traffic violation, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol. A trooper caught up to the van on Interstate 94 but the van pulled away as speeds reached 110 mph.

The van exited at Highway 83 and re-entered the freeway again, forcing several vehicles off the road and passing on the shoulder, the release states.

The first attempt to spike the vehicle's tires was unsuccessful, but a second attempt east of Barker Road was successful, the release states. 

Three people were in the vehicle and taken into custody, but only the driver was held on charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless endangering safety, one felony warrant and eight municipal warrants.
