Muskego Man Accused of Striking Waukesha Squad Car Before Drug-Related Arrest

Brian J. Buerger faces multiple felony charges after attempting to flee from police when set up in drug deal, according to criminal complaint.

A 35-year-old Muskego man remains jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail after he was accused of hitting a Waukesha Police Department squad car with his vehicle to avoid , according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Brian J. Buerger is charged with manufacturing/delivering marijuana, maintaining a drug trafficking place, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and hit and run.

Buerger was being set up in a drug sting involving a confidential informant who had arranged to purchase one pound of high-grade marijuana for $4,250. After the confidential informant told police that the informant had seen the marijuana in Buerger’s vehicle, the tactical unit and arrest team for the Waukesha Police Department moved in to make the arrest. Buerger and a passenger, who had not yet been charged as of Tuesday morning, fled the scene, nearly striking several squad cars.

Two Waukesha detective found Buerger on Plaza Court and blocked the exit. Buerger smacked his vehicle into the squad car, damaging the squad car. Another detective arrested Buerger on Bluemound Road.

Police determined Buerger had dropped off the passenger near Home Depot, which police on Friday made it clear that Home Depot was not involved in the incident. Police arrested the passenger outside the store and a 488.1 gram bag of marijuana was found inside the store in a camouflage backpack.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 Unit assisted with the search for the marijuana.
