Man Zapped 7 to 8 Times With a Taser

A 64-year-old man staying at a Pewaukee health care facility is accused of trying to fight a police officer and then having to be stunned with a Taser at least seven times before being taken into custody, according to a criminal complaint.

Brian T. Mayer was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court last week with one count of disorderly conduct and one count of resisting an officer. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison and $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 1:16 p.m. Saturday, Pewaukee police officers were called to River Hills West, 321 Riverside Drive, after Mayer became uncontrollable with staff, started throwing items from his room and barricaded himself inside. When officers arrived at the scene, Mayer was no longer barricaded in his room, but lying on his side on a bed looking towards a window.

Mayer became extremely agitated when approached by an officer and demanded to be taken to his home in Richfield. Mayer said he’s a Vietnam veteran and when the officer informed him he was also a veteran, Mayer became more respectful.

The officer left the room to talk with another officer on the scene and Mayer started to yell and scream and threatened to kill the officers when they re-entered the room. He tried to kick and punch the officers while they tried to place handcuffs on him.

Mayer said he still wouldn’t cooperate, so an officer drew his Taser and stunned Mayer in the chest several times. Mayer continued to yell and eventually had to be stunned seven to eight times in order for officers to get handcuffs on him and take him into custody.

Mayer will make his initial appearance in court Nov. 26.
