Man Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Reckless Homicide

Ian M. Jeske, 27, of New Berlin gave drugs to a Pewaukee man who fatally overdosed in 2011.

A former Waukesha man will spend the next three years in prison for giving drugs to a Pewaukee man in 2011 who eventually overdosed and died.

Ian Michael Jeske, 27, of New Berlin, was sentenced to three years in prison and five years of extended supervision Friday by Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Rebecca Dallet. Jeske could have served up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree reckless homicide under the state’s Len Bias law.

In January 2011, Jeske sold Oxycodone to David A. Gapinski after they went to a Milwaukee gas station and met another person where Jeske obtained the pills. Gapinski and another person purchased pills from Jeske, who made a $10 profit off the deal.

Gapinski overdosed and died later that night inside his apartment in the 300 block of Morris Street in Pewaukee.

I honestly don't believe that charging dealers with homicide is making a difference. Maybe Waukesha should reopen some drug treatment centers... It seems as if the people buying and Choosing to take the drugs are never held responsible for that choice. If you buy drugs you are taking the chance that you can die. Why aren't we actually educating people with the truth?

he was gonna get the drugs (oxys) somewhere. if not from ian than someone else. he chose to take it. no one put a gun to his head. and he suffered the ultimate consequence (his life). which is sad. But on the other hand where does personal responsibility come in to play.

Pointing the finger of responsibility back to yourself and away from others when you are discussing the consequences of your actions.

Three years is an outrage. This bottom of the barrel scumbag loser should have gotten at least 20. Guys like Ian here are playing with fire and until now never seemed to give a crap about who got burned so long as they made their $10 on it. The addict is to blame too, but he's already dead.. If you buy drugs you take the chance you can die. If you sell drugs, you take the chance that one of your customers will die and you'll go to prison for a very long time. Just like this loser did. Three years is nothing considering his crime... he should have gotten that just for the dealing, and then a homicide sentence should have gotten stacked on top of it... Who knows how many young people this scumbag almost killed before his poison finally put one in the ground...
