Man Charged with Stealing Charity Jar from Gas Station Counter

Suspect told investigators he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.

A 43-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a donation jar out of a Waukesha gas station.

Johnny L. Williams was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of retail theft and one count of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on April 19, an attendant working at Speedway, 400 Summit Ave., saw someone came in and stole a donation jar for the Children’s Miracle Network. After reviewing the surveillance tapes, police were able identify the man taking the jar as Williams.
