Man Charged with Hitting Woman in Front of Courthouse

Complaint alleges suspect, 39, slapped the woman after she refused to let him into a taxi following a court appearance.

A 39-year-old Waukesha man is facing charges for allegedly hitting his girlfriend in front of the Waukesha County Courthouse Monday after a court hearing.

Edward Hill was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison and $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Hill and his girlfriend were leaving the courthouse Monday afternoon when she got into a taxi and didn’t want him to enter. She locked the door and told the driver to “go.” Hill continued to try and open the door, but then gave up and reached into the cab and slapped the victim in the face.
