The next day police were called back to the residence after the woman informed them Schmidt was sitting inside a truck outside of the home. Officers approached him, and he admitted to the burglary, as well as being addicted to cocaine and heroin.

Schmidt said he didn’t take anything during the burglary and that he stole the checks on a different occasion.

He’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $2,000 bail while awaiting trial.
