Man Caught in Waukesha With Marijuana

Drug charges come after police respond to call of men with baseball bats ready to fight

A 19-year-old Racine County man is facing charges after he was found in Waukesha carrying marijuana and a pipe in his pocket.

Donald A. Smith of Caledonia was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he faces up to seven months in prison and $1,500 in fines.

On April 13, Waukesha police officers were called to Aurora Street and Beechwood Avenue after someone reported there was a group of people with a baseball bat trying to entice others to fight them. When officers arrived, they found Smith and four other men standing outside of a car.

Officers checked the men and discovered Smith had three active arrest warrants issued by the Oak Creek Police Department. He was searched and officers found the marijuana and pipe in his pocket.

Smith will make his initial appearance in court Aug. 13.
