The officer requested a drug-sniffing dog, which indicated there were drugs in the vehicle. Police found $482 in cash and a digital scale in the vehicle.

At the Waukesha Police Department, the officer asked Tompkins to hand over any drugs on him. Tompkins, who would not answer questions about his name and address, refused to give over any drugs.

Tompkins eventually reached into his groin area and pulled out 17.6 grams of marijuana and 1 gram of crack cocaine.

Tompkins also gave the officer a false name and Wisconsin driver’s license, however, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department was able to provide his correct identity.
