Man Accused of Hitting Mutt's Bartender

A 21-year-old Waukesha man admits being in a fight, but denies hitting bartender, according to a criminal complaint.

A 21-year-old Waukesha man is accused of punching a bartender during an altercation at Mutt’s Tavern.

Earskine L. Chapman was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.

At 4:40 p.m. Dec. 6, Waukesha police officers were called to Mutt’s for an altercation that occurred at the tavern. A female bartender said two customers began to fight. After she broke it up and escorted one man to the door, he turned around and punched her in the head and arms.

Officers found Chapmen nearby and he admitted being in a fight at the bar, but denied punching the bartender. Chapman did say he was sorry and had a blood alcohol level of 0.11 percent at the time of the incident.

He will make his initial appearance in court Jan. 14.
