Fire Causes $50K in Damage to E. Main St. Home [UPDATED]

One person received on-site treatment for a heat-related issue, but no other injuries were reported.

A house fire at 405 E. Main St. caused $50,000 in damage Thursday morning, according to a news release from Battalion Chief Steve Ore.

One resident was treated on scene by paramedics for a heat-related issue but did not require further medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The fire was reported at 10:03 a.m. and the first crews were on scene by 10:06 a.m. Firefighters found a large amount of smoke coming from the work and immediately attacked the fire in that was found in the attic.

"Due to a well-coordinated effort by all units at the scene, the fire was quickly brought under control," Ore said in a release.

The extreme heat outside created the need for firefighters to be rotated during the fire more than normal, the release states.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
