Greenfield Man Charged with 4th OWI After Doing a Burnout Next to a Waukesha Cop

Suspect allegedly told the arresting officer he drank a case of Bud Light before driving.

A 31-year-old Greenfield man is facing his fourth operating while intoxicated charge after he allegedly did a burnout with his car Saturday with a Waukesha police officer next to him.

Edward J. Rodriguez was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court with fourth offense OWI within five years and one count of operating a motor vehicle after revocation. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and $12,500 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, at 9:26 p.m. Saturday, an officer was travelling eastbound on West College Avenue near North Grand Avenue when he noticed a long line of vehicles in the right lane and a car directly to his right take off quickly and squeal its tires.

The officer then pulled over Rodriguez, who told him he consumed “a case” of Bud Light and didn’t want to perform field sobriety tests because he was drunk. The complaint states Rodriguez had a blood alcohol level of 0.136 percent at the time of the incident.

Rodriguez was previously convicted of OWI in 2004, 2007 and 2009. Rodriguez is currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $3,000 cash bond.
