Waukesha North Student, 15, Injured After Being Hit by Van

Girl was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 15-year-old girl was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, including a possible minor head and leg injury after being struck by a van at 7:50 a.m. Thursday.

The Waukesha Police Department responded to Summit Avenue and Greenmeadow Drive for the car vs. pedestrian accident.

The Waukesha North High School student was waiting to cross southbound in a crosswalk across Summit Avenue and she observed a vehicle approaching westbound.  The vehicle indicated and began to turn southbound (left) from Summit on to Greenmeadow.  The girl began to step into the crosswalk but did not see that there was a van that began to pass the first vehicle.  This van struck the girl.

The driver of the van was not injured.  Drugs/alcohol were not a factor.  At this point in the investigation, it is unknown if speed is a factor.  Citations have not yet been issued (pending investigation).
