Intoxicated Bicyclist Runs into Parked Squad Car While Riding in Downtown Waukesha
The suspect faces two bail jumping charges due to two pending OWI charges against him in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
A Waukesha man reportedly hit a parked squad car Saturday while riding a bicycle drunk—right in front of the officer.
The man, 42-year-old Brian K. Sowatzke, was charged Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with one count of felony bail jumping and one count of misdemeanor bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to nearly seven years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, a Waukesha police officer was standing outside his squad car in the 300 block of East Main Street, when he heard a loud thud. He then turned around and saw Sowatzke getting back onto his feet after apparently driving his bicycle into the front bumper of the vehicle.

Sowatzke told the officer he hadn’t been drinking, however, the complaint states he had a blood alcohol level of 0.105 at the time of the incident and had two operating while intoxicated cases pending in Waukesha County. As a condition of his bond in those cases, he had been told not to drink alcohol. Bail on the new case was set at $5,000 cash.
