Driver Leads Deputy, Officers on High-Speed Chase in Waukesha

Police call log states vehicle was traveling 70 miles per hour on residential road.

A chase that started with a pursuit by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department ended after the suspect tried to flee on foot at 7:05 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of East Moreland Boulevard.

The Waukesha Police Department call log shows the driver of the vehicle had been reported by a citizen to be driving 80 miles an hour and completed a u-turn at 7:01 p.m. at East Sunset Drive and Highway 164. A second call shows that a deputy caught site of the vehicle on South Grand Avenue near Sentinel Drive.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the call log states, and began chasing the vehicle. The vehicle was doing 70 miles per hour near Roberta Avenue and was driving the wrong way in traffic by Wabash Avenue.

When the vehicle came to a stop on the northeast side of Waukesha, suspect took off on foot but officers caught up with the man, who was taken into custody by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, the call log states.
