'Don't %$&* Around in a Concealed Carry State'

A road rage incident ended in Waukesha with an Oconomowoc man pulling a gun on a driver of a vehicle with an Illinois plate and yelling “that’s right, don’t (expletive) around in a concealed carry state,” according to a criminal complaint.

Michael J. Bukosky, 36, of Oconomowoc was charged Thursday with pointing a firearm at another. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in jail and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

The Waukesha Police Department responded to North Grandview Boulevard and Silvernail Road after a road rage incident was reported at 6:35 p.m. Jan. 4. A caller reported he accidentally cut off a driver while exiting the freeway. The driver who was cut off was later identified as Bukosky, who drove in front of the man and slammed on his brakes.

As the two men were stopped at a red light, they started swearing at each other. Bukosky yelled at the driver, who was using his grandfather’s vehicle with Illinois plates, “I’m going to kick your ass to your state.”

When the man looked at Bukosky, Bukosky was pointing a black handgun at him, yelling “that’s right, don’t (expletive) around in a concealed carry state.”

The man pulled into a nearby Walgreens and drove around in the parking lot because he was afraid Bukosky would follow him. The man allowed police to search him and his vehicle, and police did not locate any weapons. The man told police he hasn’t possessed a handgun since he was 12 years old when he went hunting.

Waukesha dispatch received a phone call from Bukosky, who reported he thought the man pointed a handgun at him, which is why Bukosky pointed his gun at the man.

Bukosky told police he yelled at the man when he was cut off on the freeway, “We don’t drive like this in Wisconsin, go back to Illinois, you (expletive).”

Police recovered from Bukosky a Rueger handgun with a magazine containing seven rounds.
