Customers Return to Target After Suspicious Smell

Waukesha Fire Department was called to the store on West Sunset Drive Thursday afternoon.

All is back to normal at Target on West Sunset Drive after a natural gas leak was reported at 2:10 p.m. Thursday.

However, no gas leak was found at the store. Store employees contacted the Waukesha Fire Department after smelling what they thought was natural gas.

Crews on scene believe the smell came from a dried-out floor drain, according to Battalion Chief Joe Hoffman.

The Waukesha Fire Department cleared from the scene at 2:52 p.m., according to an email from Lt. Tom Wagner to Patch's media partners at WISN 12 News.

Several people told Patch the Target was evacuated while the fire department responded. The people were allowed to return to the building after the Waukesha Fire Department cleared the scene, according to Wagner.
