Complaint: Man Punches Another Man in Aldi Because He Wanted More Soda

Suspect, 29, was upset because he was limited in the number of packs of soda he could buy, but not chicken patties, according to criminal complaint.

A 29-year-old Waukesha man is facing battery charges after he punched another man at Aldi after he was upset with the amount of chicken patties and soda they were going to buy, according to a criminal complaint.

Michael J. Burge was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of misdemeanor battery. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on March 9, Burge and another man went to Aldi to purchase groceries. While there Burge wanted to buy three packs of soda, but the other man said he could only buy two, the complaint states.

Burge confronted the man about purchasing more chicken patties, to which the man said the limited number of items was only for soda and he needed more food as that’s what his service facilitator had told him, according to the complaint.

At that time, the complaint states Burge punched the man in the face several times and ran off. While being interviewed by officers, Burge told them he punched the victim because he had no other choice and he was upset because he wanted to buy more soda.
