Miltitary-Style Grenade Turned Over to Milwaukee County Bomb Squad

The Milwaukee County bomb squad is apparently assisting Waukesha police in investigation of incident, WISN 12 News reports.

A suspicious device that was found Thursday afternoon on Wilson Avenue between Grand and Scott avenues has been "rendered safe" by the Milwaukee County bomb squad, according to Waukesha Police Sgt. Joe Hendricks.

Officers with the bomb squad walked over to the device, picked it up and determined it wasn't a threat. The bomb squad was on scene for a short period of time and then left the area.

Waukesha police were called to the home for a report of a military-style grenade found outside of the home at 3:47 p.m. Thursday, according to Sgt. Joe Hendricks of the Waukesha Police Department.

Area homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure, according to Hendricks.

A man wrote on Patch's Facebook page saying he lives across the street and that a live grenade with a pin still in it was found.

The grenade was turned over to the Milwaukee County bomb squad and police are investigating the incident.
