Bill Kramer Under Sexual Assault Investigation in Muskego
The Muskego Police Department has referred a sexual assault charge against State Rep. Bill Kramer, R-Waukesha, District Attorney Brad Schimel confirmed with Patch on Wednesday.
It is unknown when a charging decision will be made or if charges will be issued. Schimel is not the prosecutor in charge of the case because of his past political connections with Kramer, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting.
Kramer has fallen in the political limelight over the past month. The GOP stripped him of his leadership post as the Assembly Majority Speaker after allegations emerged that he touched one person inappropriately and made unwanted sexual remarks to another person in Washington, D.C.
Kramer, who has been in treatment since allegations first publicly emerged, decided earlier this week he will not run for re-election in November. Waukesha Alderman Aaron Perry is among those considering a run for the 97th Assembly District, according to his Facebook page.
