Authorities Identify Waukesha Man Killed After Fall From Rock

David A. Hoelzer, 29, died in Columbia County.

Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards identified the 29-year-old man who died after falling more than 100 feet from Gibraltar Rock as David A. Hoelzer.

“We found no evidence he was with anyone,” Richards said in an e-mail.

Authorities are continuing the investigation into Hoelzer’s death but the death is not being considered suspicious, Richards said.

A caller contacted authorities at 2:43 p.m. Friday to report that the body was laying below the rock’s crest in central Wisconsin.

Hoelzer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident remains under investigation by the Columbia County sheriff’s department and medical examiner’s office.
