Attempted Robbery at Broadway Petro Mart Under Investigation

Suspect tried to take money from cash register while employee was sweeping in the gas station.

The Broadway Petro Mart had an attempted robbery early Monday morning while an employee at the gas station was sweeping the floor, according to the Waukesha Police Department’s call log.

The man’s shirt was covering his face and tried to take money from the cash register. The police department’s call log states it does not appear as though any money was stolen. While no weapon was displayed, the employee reported the suspect had a bulge in the front of his jacket.

Officers were called to 114 E. Broadway at 4:12 a.m. Monday after the suspect had fled toward Family Dollar.

The suspect was wearing a grey shirt covering his face, a khaki coat, blue jeans and dark shoes. He is also described as having darker skin and a muscular build.

Officer searched the area and area business and Carroll University were reviewing security footage to help officer, according to the call log.

In May 2012, the Broadway Petro Mart was robbed at gunpoint. The clerk, Nayyer Rana, died after being shot several times by Billy Ingram. Ingram was sentenced to life in prison for the murder.
