They were out walking a wagon, selling lemonade, down Rolling Ridge Drive towards University when a man in a burgundy SUV pulled up alongside the road and said he'd purchase some. He then got out of the car, returning only to get more money out for "tips" then started telling (the girl) that she was "very pretty" and that he "loved her". He was hugging her and kissed her on top of her head and cheek while edging her toward his car. The girls were very scared, but managed to get away and wait for help. They then flagged down a guy out for a run and asked for his help. When he approached the guy he got in his car and left.
A police report has been filed since, apparently, the same man approached a (15-year-old girl) and offered her and a friend a ride when they were out walking. The girls are ok, just a little freaked out and shaken up. I am just asking that you keep your eyes peeled when out in your neighborhood. The make/model is unclear, we know it is a little boxy, SUV with a tire on the back that looked a little rusty and beat up. The driver is a little older, I think, as they said he had a white beard, he wears glasses, had on a tan hat with a lobster on it...
It was a good reminder to our kids to go places in groups, not to talk to strangers and to be aware of their surroundings.
