Accidental Shooting Victims Treated at Waukesha Memorial Hospital

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department reports a Burlington man appears to have accidentally shot himself in the hand with birdshot, also striking a woman at her North Prairie apartment.

When two people arrived at the Waukesha Memorial Hospital’s emergency room early Sunday morning to be treated for gunshot wounds, the hospital contacted the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department to investigation.

A 24-year-old Burlington man had non-life threatening injuries and a 24-year-old North Prairie woman had superficial injuries after the man shot a revolver loaded with birdshot, according to a news release from the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

The Burlington man shot himself in the hand and the birdshot hit the woman’s upper chest and face. The shooting – which appears to be accidental – occurred at the woman’s North Prairie apartment.
