A Mystery Story: Not a Bomb Threat

Police called to Waukesha Public Library to investigate what turned out to be an inspiring author.

Girls were detained at the at 4:51 p.m. Monday after library security linked the girls to a suspected bomb threat that was found written on a piece of paper in a study room Friday, according to the Waukesha Police Department’s call log.

The library also found a suicide note written on the wall Friday and called police to respond Monday to speak with the girls. The girls denied writing the suicide note, but the oldest girl admitted writing the “bomb threat” as part of a mystery/horror story she was writing, according to the call log.

Police contacted the girls’ father, who confirmed the girl liked to write mystery stories and that the note was consistent with her stories. The father told police the girl did not display any behaviors of mental illness or suicidal behavior.
