2-County Police Chase Ends in Taser Deploy, Arrest; Other Police Calls

A two-county vehicle pursuit ended with a man being stunned with a taser and facing several criminal charges after fleeing from Waukesha police and law enforcement in Milwaukee County, according to the Waukesha Police Department’s call log.

The saga began at 1:38 a.m. Thursday  in the 1300 block of Arcadian Avenue in Waukesha. Police officers were told the driver of a bronze or gold SUV had been drinking in the vehicle and was driving around the area.

When a Waukesha police officer spotted the vehicle, the officer attempted to pull the driver over. However, the SUV took off at high speeds through Waukesha. traveling 65 mph on Arcadian Avenue, nearly hitting a squad car at one point, the call log states.

The vehicle pursuit was terminated when the SUV pulled onto Interstate 94 at 75 mph with no headlights on, according to the call log.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department picked up the pursuit after he crossed the county line. The driver crashed into a pole at 16th Street and National Avenue and tried to escape on foot. He was taken into custody after he was tasered by a Milwaukee County deputy.

In other Waukesha Police Department calls:

  • A theft of groceries from a vehicle was reported at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Sunset Drive.
  • A woman was injured after crashing into a tree at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of South Grandview Boulevard. The woman had a stroke the week before.
  • A theft of packages was reported at 12:17 p.m. Wednesday in the 2600 block of Pebble Valley Road.
  • A theft of lawn chairs was reported at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Madison Street.
  • A person was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving after fleeing from police at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday at Big Bend Road and West Sunset Drive. The man was traveling 75 mph down Sunset Drive before a tire blew out near Fox River Parkway where he was taken into custody.
  • A belligerent man was taken into custody after he reported he was battered after he walked around asking people “do you think it is a right to (expletive) a goat?” in the 200 block of West Broadway at 12:44 a.m. Thursday. An ambulance was requested to the man’s cell for a cut on the head.
  • A person was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving during a traffic stop at 1:41 a.m. Thursday at Summit Avenue and North Grandview Boulevard.
