Here is the transcript from this Thursday’s radio address, which is titled Bipartisan and Pro-Jobs
Hi this is Scott Walker.
My number one priority is jobs.
During the three years before I took office Wisconsin lost 150,000 private sector jobs. During the past year, we leveled things off. And now we're heading in the right direction for 2012, and beyond.
A new report shows that Wisconsin added jobs in January and our unemployment rate is down from last year. In fact, it’s the lowest it has been since 2008.
Confidence is up too. Two years ago, just 10 percent of our employers thought our state was headed in the right direction. Today, 94 percent now say Wisconsin is headed in the right direction.
Still, we have a great deal of work to do. That's why I'm so glad that lawmakers in both political parties recently passed two key parts of our Wisconsin Working plan. It will help put more people into jobs.
One bill helps us bridge the gap between unemployment and work by giving people time to get key jobs skills. The other helps remove a barrier to employment for veterans who have important skills.
Working together, we got these measures passed and now I'm signing them into law. We will build off of this strong foundation to put even more people to work in Wisconsin.
