Obituary: Sister Bernadette Ranallo

Discalced Carmelite Nun, Sister Bernadette Ranallo, age 90, Carmel of the Mother of God, Pewaukee, was called into Eternity, Saturday, October 5, 2013.  

She was born in Hartshorne, OK on June 14, 1923 the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (nee Duca) Ranallo.  She attended Holy Rosary School and Hartshorne High School.  After graduation she entered the monastery of Discalced Carmelite Nuns in Dallas, TX.  She received the Carmelite Habit August 27, 1944 and made profession of vows August 28, 1945.  In October 1945 she went on a foundation to Santa Fe, New Mexico and then to Albuquerque, New Mexico before transferring to the Carmelite Monastery in Pewaukee in 1969.  She served as prioress of the Carmelite community from 1964 to 1970 and again from 1975 until 1990.

Her sister Catherine McCaslin of Hartshorne, OK survives her along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 9:00AM until the time of the 11:00AM funeral Mass at the chapel of the Carmel of the Mother of God Monastery, W267 N2517 Carmelite Road, Pewaukee, WI 53072.  Father Dennis Klemme, presider, will be joined by the Carmelite Friars of Holy Hill in celebrating the funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
